Exotic Kapuas Hulu Super Red or Scleropages formosus:

All Super Blood Reds are natural color variants that originated from the Kapuas River System in Kalimantan. Along the Kapuas River, there are pockets of Super Red Arowana populations that look slightly different from other populations and thus, named under different types of Super Red Arowana.

Very beautiful red arowana with deep high red color, often classified as Grade A++. The whole gill cover is a glittering deep red color. Our Selection offers a pick of premium quality Arowana from any of the farms in Asia, and we will do our best to match the colors your are looking for based on lineage. However, for specific color requests the fish will need to be at least 15inches or greater. All our fish gets delivered with all certificates.

Typical Behavior of Blood Red Arowana

They swim in the middle of the tank but will venture higher and lower from time to time. These fish are highly territorial and tend to fight with nearby fish, however you can occasionally find an Arowana with a more placid personality. Keeping them in their own tank will prevent any fighting. Red Arowana are a hardy species that can tolerate a range of conditions. They may not look it, but they are actually fairly easy to care for.

Tank Mates

Finding the right tank mates for a Red Arowana can be difficult, but there are some good options out there. They need to be able to deal with an unpredictable temperament. Oscars, Knifefish, Blood Parrot Cichlids, Convict Cichlids, Discus, Angelfish, Large Plecostomus, Catfish, Green Terrors and Stingrays are a few suitable companions. This species has a very large mouth, and any fish that are small enough to fit inside will be eaten. So avoid small tank mates like Tetras and Guppies.

Most freshwater invertebrates are small too and will likely be treated as a snack. Any fish that swim in the upper levels of the tank will get in the way of your Arowana and will be at greater risk.
