The Rio Nanay Angel, also known as the Peru Altum, is a freshwater angelfish with the following characteristics:
Appearance: Rio Nanay Angels have reddish or pink spots that become more prominent with age. They also have a black spot below their dorsal fin, which distinguishes them from other angelfish.
Habitat: In the wild, Rio Nanay Angels live in warm, acidic waters with lots of tannins, near fallen branches or submerged driftwood.
Size: Rio Nanay Angels can grow up to 7 inches long.
Temperament: Rio Nanay Angels are peaceful, but can be territorial towards other Rio Nanay Angels during spawning. They can coexist with other tankmates that aren't too small or aggressive.
Diet: Rio Nanay Angels eat invertebrates, detritus, frozen, and prepared feeds.
Tank: Rio Nanay Angels do best in a group of at least five fish, with plenty of cover. The recommended tank size is 75 gallons. The water should be soft and acidic, with a pH of 4.2 to 6.2, and the temperature should be above 82°F.
